Q: Do I pay the service charge for every visit?

Q: Do I pay the service charge for every visit?

A: Not usually. Normally it’s charged once per repair or per machine. If I need to come second time to bring/install parts or continue the repair, the initial service charge usually covers that second visit. A second service charge is billed only in cases where I am prepared to finish the job on the first visit but a customer elects to have me return another time to finish the repair. This means essentially if I could have done the job in one visit but was forced to do it in two visits by a client. The reason is that I lose the ability to earn another service charge somewhere else at that time because of going back to finish a job I could have finished in one visit. In such a case I would lose labour and/or other income by missing out on another job however please note only a service charge is billed.

If an additional visit is required because parts are not available at the time of the first visit then that is neither the fault of the customer or myself and was unavoidable. As such the service charge would only be charged once in such a case.
